Overview

Lovelace Biomedical Research Institute (LBRI) is seeking a Research Technologist with a background in bioanalytical chemistry.  The position will support bioanalytical method development, qualification, validation and application of bioanalytical assays within the Scientific Core Laboratories.

 

The position will involve working in multi-disciplinary scientific teams to develop/characterize formulations and develop/qualify/validate/apply bioanalytical chemistry methods for sample analysis. Working in the laboratory to process and analyze samples using Ultra Performance Liquid Chromatography (UPLC), High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC), Gas Chromatography (GC) and mass spectroscopy (MS).

Qualifications

Requires a bachelor’s degree in a scientific area or with comparable course work and 0-3 years of experience in the area of analytical assay development or validation using LC-MS/MS instrumentation; or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been attained.

 

Candidate must have a demonstrated understanding of research methodology in quantitative analysis of small molecules from biological matrices (e.g., plasma, serum, tissue, urine, etc.).  Requires strong written and verbal communication skills, the ability to work independently and as a part of a team.  Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Office, as well as the ability to learn department-specific computer systems as needed.

 

Preference will be given to candidates who have experience working in a GLP environment. Preference will also be given to candidates who have experience working Sciex triple quad instrumentation and Analyst software.

 

This position may involve work inside the ABSL3 facility which may require vaccinations/immunizations. Candidates must be able to lift up to 20 pounds and wear a respirator.  A Post-offer physical and background check are required. 

 

Must be a US Citizen or permanent resident in order to gain and maintain access to Kirtland Air Force base (KAFB).

 

Physical Requirements

Work is performed in a wet laboratory environment.  Will operate standard laboratory equipment and will frequently stand, walk, sit, perform lab- and desk-based computer tasks, perform laboratory techniques requiring grasping/pipetting/hand dexterity, perform repetitive motions and occasionally lift objects that weigh up to 50 pounds.  Will wear personal protective equipment which may include a respirator.  May work in close proximity to an environment containing research animals and may be required to work with or be in areas where hazardous materials and/or infectious agents are present which may require vaccinations.

Salary

Salary is commensurate with experience + $500 sign-on bonus.
