Under specific direction, the Systems Specialist will assist with the installation, integration, and maintenance of data network components, network communications equipment, and network workstations. The Systems Specialist will monitor network performance and performs network analysis to reduce system downtime and improve network performance. Working in support of the IT Management team and Systems Administrators, this position will diagnose, resolve, and document hardware and software network problems in a timely and accurate fashion as well as provide end user and technician support, and perform all other related duties and tasks as required or assigned.
Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field and/or 1 year of directly related work experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been attained.
Must have experience with maintaining Microsoft Exchange, Windows servers and clients as well as experience installing and maintaining VMware, ESX, vSphere, or Windows Hyper-V, DNS, Active Directory, DHCP core Microsoft applications, storage area networks (SAN), and private/public cloud solutions. Must have demonstrated knowledge of TCP/IP, routing, switching, video conferencing, cyber security, general network support and network management tools. Must have the ability to develop specifications for new hardware and software purchases, assemble and configure computer hardware and peripheral devices. Must be able to provide technical guidance and instruction to computer users.
Must have superior professional-level written and verbal communication skills; a high degree of professionalism and excellent problem-solving skills. Demonstrated ability in managing a wide variety of complex tasks and projects simultaneously while meeting multiple deadlines is required. Must have the ability to work independently and as a part of a team as well as the ability to maintain confidential information.
Must be a US Citizen or permanent resident in order to gain and maintain access to Kirtland Air Force base (KAFB).

Experience supporting a Compliant or GxP environment Linux/Unix and Microsoft Exchange is preferred.
Work is performed in a variety of settings including office and laboratory environments, as well as in outdoor areas. Will operate standard information technology equipment and will frequently stand, walk, sit, perform desk-based computer tasks, use a telephone, perform repetitive motions, bend, kneel, crawl, carry equipment and occasionally lift objects that weigh up to 20 pounds. May periodically climb ladders and perform work overhead.
