Under general supervision of Comparative Medicine Management and/or staff veterinarians, cares for animals and cleans facilities used in experimental and breeding colonies. CMAR Technicians provide daily husbandry of laboratory animals to include (but not limited to) observation of animals, handling and restraint, feeding and watering, changing cages/racks, and sanitizing animal quarters and equipment for multiple species.  Operates and/or use supplies and equipment necessary to perform the husbandry duties and/or cage wash duties as assigned.  Previous work with non-humane primates and dogs preferred but not required.  Weekend work required.   Provides daily record keeping for animals and room environments in accordance with LBRI quality assurance standards and regulations. Will maintain cleanliness of the cage wash area, warehouse, diet kitchen and any animal equipment storage areas. Outstanding Communication skills and the ability to work harmoniously with team members and all professionals is a must.  This is an entry level position that does not require previous animal handling or cleaning experience.

Lovelace Biomedical Research Institute is seeking a Biosafety Officer who will be responsible for protecting the Institute’s employees, contractors, visitors, the general public and the environment from potential exposures to Select Agents and Toxins; and to ensure that the Institute maintains full compliance with both the letter and the spirit of the Select Agents and Toxins regulations as well as all other applicable governmental regulations and guidelines, and internal requirements.    The Biosafety Officer will also serve as Responsible Official (RO).  As RO, will ensure compliance with all aspects of the Institute’s Select Agent Program in accordance with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS), Select Agents and Toxins regulations.  Will develop and implement supporting health and safety programs.  Will be responsible for reviewing and updating the Institute’s Select Agents Biosafety and Chemical Hygiene Plan, Security Plan and Incident and Emergency Response Plan.    Will review research projects involving human and animal pathogens or biological toxins, including select agents, recombinant DNA, transgenic plants and animals and advises researchers regarding appropriate biocontainment levels, safety practices and applicable regulatory guidelines. Provides assistance to researchers in obtaining and maintaining any required import or interstate transport permits for biological materials to be used at LBRI and transports infectious materials between campuses as needed, and perform all other related duties and tasks as required or assigned.

The Clinical Veterinarian is responsible for providing clinical veterinary medical care to a variety of laboratory animal species including diagnosis and treatment of disease, preventive medicine, animal health monitoring, and quarantine monitoring, and completed all other duties and tasks as required or assigned.   The Clinical Veterinarian will also participate in research support covering clinical aspects of the studies, provide guidance on animal model and protocol development and participate on the IACUC and conduct veterinary reviews. This position also requires participation in a rotating on call schedule for after hours, weekend and holiday coverage. 

Under general supervision, the Contracts and Proposal Coordinator will assist the Contracts and Proposal teams with data-flow, coordination of requirements, timelines, and ensure compliance in submissions of proposals and contracts for all activities for proposals, contracts and grants.   The Contracts and Proposal Coordinator will review and submit proposals in compliance with all applicable Institute, Federal, state and all other applicable regulations and guidelines. Will disseminate on-going proposal and contract assignment information to internal and external clients as well as contribute to writing and editing of proposals, manuscripts, policies and procedures, and promotional material, and performing all other related duties and tasks as required or assigned.   Establishes and documents electronic proposal and contract file access and tracking protocols to ensure the security and integrity of all proposal documentation and will be responsible for updating and maintaining electronic files of all proposals, contracts, templates and associated materials. Will work with the Director of Contracts and Senior Proposal Manager to coordinate the planning process and track and meet all deadlines.

Under general supervision, the Contracts Specialist provides technical assistance to scientific and administrative staff with grant and contract development and administration for Federal, private and industry sponsors in a fast paced, team-oriented environment.  The Contracts Specialist is responsible for ensuring compliance with Institute policies and Federal regulations with regard to grants and contracts.

The EH&S Technician will conduct radiation surveys and conduct radiation training for employees. Performs noise surveys and laboratory safety inspections. Collects, analyzes, ships and packs samples. Lovelace Biomedical is seeking an Equipment Specialist.  Under general supervision, individual will be responsible for equipment validation, calibration and testing requirements of the Institute.  Incumbent will report to Quality, while coordinating with ITS, QA, scientific staff, and outside service vendors.

Reporting to the Director of Facilities and under limited direction, the Facilities Manager will oversee the day-to-day operations of the Institute’s facilities and physical plant.  The Manager will play a pivotal role in effectively managing the Facilities Department to ensure a safe and efficient working environment across all Lovelace campuses.   The Facilities Manager will manage the daily operations of all campuses including coordinating building maintenance/preventative maintenance, directing repairs of equipment and systems, managing external vendors, contractors and service providers, coordinating office and laboratory relocations, expansions and renovations, and performing all other related duties and tasks as required or assigned.   The Manager will also lead and manage the Facilities Department staff to include identifying staffing needs and available expertise, providing leadership and mentoring to all department staff, directing the recruiting and selection process for all department positions, and working with the Human Resources Department as needed on performance evaluations, training and development of staff.

Under limited supervision, the Financial Analyst will be responsible for accurately creating, forecasting and projecting company-wide fiscal budgets, revenues, and expenses. Works closely with key institute officials and departments including but not limited to executive management, department heads, project managers, accounting, human resources, and the office of research contracts on tracking external and internal funding and staff utilizations. May serve as the lead or advisor in a group setting.

The successful candidate will assist in administrative functions of study execution such as labeling collection tubes and transporting supplies to appropriate area, quality control review of data, coordinating sample shipment, and acting as shift or study lead. Activities as lead may include scheduling team work assignments and acting as primary point of contact for the study director for a particular shift.

Under general direction, the Laboratory Technician will perform a variety of tasks in the immunology and large molecule bioanalytical chemistry group as a part of the Scientific Core Laboratories. The work is performed within a highly regulated environment and as such compliance with documentation standards is required. Individual will complete moderately complex work assignments as well as documenting laboratory work and maintaining laboratory equipment and supplies, and performing all other related duties and tasks as required or assigned. This position is PRN or “as needed” and is not eligible for benefits.   The expectation is that the ideal candidate will have a basic understanding of chemistry and be willing and able to learn on the job from experienced staff. The immunology and large molecule bioanalytical chemistry group is a portion of a larger chemistry group (bioanalytical, analytical and formulations) and therefore the expectation is that the ideal candidate will be able to be cross train within the broader chemistry groups.  

Under general direction, the Senior Laboratory Technician will perform a variety of tasks in the Pathology Department.
